Takchita & 2-Piece Kaftan Sets

Takchita-style two-piece kaftan sets: an under-dress and an embroidered overlayer, made for grand occasions.

What is a takchita?

The takchita is Morocco's grandest kaftan: a two-piece ensemble pairing a simple under-dress (tahtiya) with an open, richly worked overlayer (fouqia), traditionally closed by an ornate belt at the waist.

Our takchita and two-piece kaftan sets bring that ceremony-day tradition to modern occasions - weddings, engagements, Eid and galas - with Sfifa braiding, Aakad buttons and embroidery inspired by Fassi and Rbati craftsmanship. The layered cut flatters every figure: the underlayer skims, the overlayer flows.

Style the set closed with a statement belt for the full silhouette, or wear the overlayer open as a duster. See our Moroccan kaftans and heritage collection for one-piece takes on the same tradition. US sizes 0-22 - check the size guide; sets run true to the under-dress measurements.

The Takchita Guide

When to wear a takchita

Takchitas shine at weddings - guests and brides alike - engagements, henna nights and Eid celebrations. The layered construction reads formal by default, so save it for moments that deserve it and let a one-piece kaftan handle daytime ease. For wedding-guest etiquette, see what to wear to a Moroccan wedding.

How a 2-piece set should fit

The under-dress skims the body; the over-gown drapes. Order your usual US size and let the belt do the shaping - that is what it is designed for. Each product page lists exact garment measurements for both layers, and our size guide explains how much ease feels right.

What is the difference between a takchita and a kaftan?

A kaftan is a single flowing garment; a takchita is two layers - an under-dress and an open or semi-open over-gown - always worn with a belt. The takchita is the more ceremonial of the two.

Do takchita sets come with the belt?

Product photos show exactly what is included on each listing. Many of our sets include a coordinated sash, and our kaftan belt collection offers mdamma-style metal belts to elevate any set.
